This wiki is an experiment in exploring how to better understand what makes fashion brands unique, exclusive and attractive. This platform encourages a collaborative effort in documenting and visualizing fashion codes. The aim of this project is to critically identify what makes the core genetic makeup of a fashion label, its extensions, evolutions and/or classes.
The documentation and visualization of the codes uses of syntaxic narrative approach that will allow for a systematic documentation and an ease propagation. This means that we are researching for a flexible framework that helps document the code by many users and that helps narrate what the brand is about.
Resources to document the code are available on our daily lives: magazines, advertisements, other's outfits, movies, etc. Contributors are encourage to capture pieces of code found. By making sense of it genetic code of the brand collaboratively we will create new connections build upon the brand.
Fashion Codes is developed in parallel with the label Hacking Couture which brainstorms collectively through workshops and submission. The posibilities are endless and yet to been seen. It is all up to all to make new experiences with these codes.
